Privacy notice

This notice explains what personal data Britannia IoT Solutions Ltd collects through this website and in the course of business enquiries, why we hold it, and what you can ask us to do about it. It is written to be read, not to be survived.

Who we are

Britannia IoT Solutions Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described here. We are registered in England and Wales, company number 17399940, at 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ.

What we collect

Nothing is collected from you simply by reading this website. There is no enquiry form, no account, no advertising technology and no analytics.

When you contact us. If you email or telephone us we hold your name, the contact details you use, your organisation, and the content of the correspondence, together with any notes we make about what you are looking for.

Server logs. This site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web server, it records requests including the visitor's IP address, and GitHub uses those logs to operate and secure the service. We do not have access to them and cannot identify visitors from them.

No third-party requests. Everything this site needs — styles, fonts, images — is served from this domain. Your browser contacts no one else when you read it, so no other company learns that you visited.

Cookies

This website sets no cookies of any kind, and uses no local or session storage. There is nothing here to consent to and no banner to dismiss, which is why you have not seen one.

Why we hold it, and our lawful basis

We use enquiry correspondence solely to reply to you and, where it develops that way, to carry on a commercial conversation you started and to keep a record of what was agreed. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — responding to a business enquiry made of us, which is what you would reasonably expect when you contact a supplier. Where a contract follows, our basis for the records associated with it is performance of a contract, and for the retention of financial records, legal obligation.

We do not use your data for automated decision-making or profiling, and we do not send marketing to people who have not asked to hear from us.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. It is handled by the service providers who operate our email and website on our behalf, under their terms, and disclosed where the law requires it. At present those providers are Microsoft (email) and GitHub (website hosting).

Transfers outside the UK

Microsoft and GitHub are US-headquartered and may process data outside the United Kingdom. Those transfers rely on the UK's international data transfer agreement or addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses, together with the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where the provider is certified under it.

How long we keep it

Enquiry correspondence is kept for up to 24 months from our last contact with you, then deleted. Where a contract is entered into, the associated records are kept for the duration of the contract and for six years afterwards, which is the period required for tax and limitation purposes.

How we protect it

Correspondence is held in access-controlled business accounts protected by multi-factor authentication. This website is served over HTTPS. Access to personal data is limited to the people who need it to do their job.

Customer sensor data

Fill-level readings from customers' waste containers measure physical assets, not people, and are not personal data. Where we process any data on a customer's behalf they remain the controller and we act as processor under the terms of the customer agreement, which sets out hosting location, retention, security and export rights. We will support a customer's data protection impact assessment on request.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict how we use it, to object to our use of it, and to receive it in a portable form. Because we rely on legitimate interests, you have a particular right to object — tell us and we will stop unless we have compelling grounds not to.

Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, by telephone on 0303 123 1113, or to Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle personal data we will update this page and the review date below. Material changes will be brought to the attention of anyone we hold data for.
